Certified Veterinary Technician
Carolyn is pursuing her second career at IWVC. In 1979 she graduated from Towson University with a Master’s degree in Psychology. After 20 years of helping people cope with life, she turned her attention to the animal world. She received an Associates’ degree in Veterinary Technology in 2000 and joined IWVC shortly thereafter.
Not surprisingly, Carolyn has many occasions to make use of her background in psychology, dealing with stressed or grieving clients. Her calm and caring manner helps get them through the rough times. Although she enjoys client contact, Carolyn especially likes surgical nursing, where she gets to use the various skills she has learned in school and on the job.
Carolyn’s husband, Jon, is a clinical psychologist. Her daughter, Anna, is working at American University and lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband, Ben, who is employed by The Pew Foundation. Her son, Joe, is currently enrolled at the University of Minnesota Doctoral Program in Social Psychology. Carolyn has 5 rescue cats: Cody, Sydney, Tucker, Sadie and Mia.
In her spare time, Carolyn enjoys playing tennis, gardening and travel. She has made two World Vets sponsored trips; to Ecuador in 2011 and to Honduras in March, 2013 to participate in a mass spay/neuter program.
